The Father Joseph Plummer Council was founded in 1990 through the efforts of Dave Gaska - Charter Grand Knight. Father
Joseph Plummer was an Associate Pastor at Christ the Good Shepherd from 1983 - 1987 (Biography). The Father Joseph
Plummer Council works closely with Christ the Good Shepherd Parish providing parish and community activities. The council
also contributes thousands of dollars each year to various charitable causes. Many of our recently funded charities are listed
and have links in the webpage "Charities". The "Ministries" webpage highlights where our members regularly contribute their
time. If you would like to learn more, many council activities are documented in the webpage "Photoalbum". The "Squires"
webpage represents a charitable, service organization for young men sponsored by our council. Clicking on the "Activities
Calendar" link will allow you to see how busy we are.
Thanks to the efforts of Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven and some of his
parishioners, the Connecticut state legislature on March 29, 1882, officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal
benefit society. The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 13,000 councils and
1.7 million members worldwide. During the past decade, the Knights of Columbus has donated more than $1.325 billion to
charity, and provided nearly 626 million hours of volunteer service in support of charitable initiatives.
